Maps.me eSIM Service Terms
Last updated 20 October 2026
1. Who provides what
1.1 Maps.me eSIM is a prepaid mobile data service provided by the operator of Maps.me, identified in the Maps.me Terms of Service (Maps.me), over the networks of partner mobile operators in each country of coverage. Maps.me is not itself a mobile network operator; it buys connectivity wholesale and is responsible to you for the service under these Terms and the Maps.me Terms of Service.
1.2 Newfound Digital Limited (Newfound) sells eSIM data packages on this store as authorised reseller and merchant of record. The sale is governed by the Terms of Sale.
1.3 Because you bought from Newfound, all refund requests go to Newfound (section 8). Maps.me does not refund purchases made through resellers.
2. Before you buy: your device
2.1 You need an eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked device of which you are the sole responsible user. The same model may lack eSIM in some countries; check the compatibility list on the product page and your device settings first.
2.2 You need an internet connection (Wi-Fi or another SIM) to install the profile and to activate a package.
2.3 Packages are data only: no voice calls, SMS or phone number unless the product page says otherwise. Features that depend on a voice-capable SIM (visual voicemail, carrier Wi-Fi calling, some VPN or VoIP apps) may not work.
2.4 One Maps.me eSIM profile per device. A package is used on the device holding the profile and cannot be split across devices.
3. Your Maps.me eSIM profile and packages
3.1 On your first purchase we deliver a Maps.me eSIM profile by QR code, activation code or direct installation, and send a confirmation email. Installation details are also shown in your store account. The profile stays on your device; later packages attach to it with no reinstall. Do not delete the profile: it cannot be restored, and any package on it is lost. Re-issuing a profile, where possible, may carry an administration fee shown on the store.
3.2 A package gives a data allowance, a coverage area (one country or a region) and a validity period, all stated on the product page. Validity starts when the package first connects to a partner network in the coverage area.
3.3 Activation window. A package must be activated within 30 days of purchase. A package not activated in that window lapses, cannot be revived, and is not refunded.
3.4 Unused data expires at the end of the validity period and is not refunded or carried over. Where two packages cover the same country, the one activated first is used first.
4. Identity checks and local rules
4.1 Some countries require identity registration before a SIM can be used. Where that applies we or Maps.me may ask you for a government-issued ID and other details before activation, and Maps.me may complete the registration on your behalf where local law allows. If you do not provide what is required, the package cannot be activated and clause 8.4 applies.
4.2 You must comply with the laws of every country where you use the service, including rules on SIM use, content and foreign-provider restrictions. The service is not available in countries listed as excluded on the store, in areas partner networks designate as restricted, or where export-control or sanctions laws prohibit it.
5. Coverage, speed, throttling and fair use
5.1 Coverage, network technology (4G/5G) and speed depend on partner networks, your location, indoor or outdoor use, device and network load. No minimum or uninterrupted speed is promised. The coverage list on the product page shows the partner networks we expect to be available; it may change.
5.2 When a package's allowance is used up, data stops or is throttled to the speed stated on the product page until you add a package. Where a package is described as unlimited it is subject to a fair-use threshold, which is stated on the product page before you buy; no undisclosed threshold is applied.
5.3 Partner networks may restrict tethering, VoIP or VPN traffic in some countries; the product page says so where known.
6. Emergency calls
A data-only eSIM cannot make emergency calls (112, 911, 999 or local equivalents) or receive emergency alerts. Keep your primary SIM active or have another way to reach emergency services when travelling.
7. Acceptable use
7.1 The service is for lawful, personal use. You must not: resell, share or redistribute packages or bandwidth; use the profile in routers, modems or as permanent tethering; generate persistent machine-to-machine traffic; use the service as a substitute for home broadband; host servers, relays or peer-to-peer file sharing, or launch denial-of-service traffic; send spam or bulk automated messages; clone, reprogram or tamper with the profile or reuse its identifiers; use a package primarily outside its coverage area or in a pattern inconsistent with travel use; or use the service for unlawful content or purposes.
7.2 On suspected breach Maps.me may throttle speeds, block features such as tethering, suspend the package or the profile, or end the service, and Newfound may decline future orders. No refund is due for a package suspended or ended for breach.
8. Refunds and replacement
8.1 Before installation: a package is refunded in full if the profile has not been installed on any device and the package has not been activated. Ask at support@newfoundhk.com with your order number.
8.2 After installation: installation counts as use. Once the profile is installed there is no refund for change of mind, for a device that proves incompatible or locked, or because you did not travel.
8.3 Cannot connect because of a fault on our side: if a package is installed or activated but you cannot use it because of an error or omission by Maps.me or its partner networks, you may choose a replacement package or a refund of the price paid (the unused portion if you have used part of it), provided that: (a) you claim within 30 days of the problem first occurring; (b) Maps.me has not restored your service within 10 days of your report; and (c) you have cooperated with support, for example by sending screenshots of device settings.
8.4 No refund for: data used; data unused when a package expires; a package not activated within its activation window; a package that cannot be activated because you did not complete a required identity check; charges from other SIMs, other providers, hotel phones or roaming on your primary SIM; or a package suspended for breach of section 7.
8.5 Service withdrawn: if Maps.me or a partner network withdraws a package or coverage you have prepaid, you may choose a replacement package or a refund of the unused portion.
8.6 Outage: an outage of more than 24 consecutive hours in the coverage area for reasons within Maps.me's control is refunded pro rata or replaced, at your choice.
8.7 Incorrect or unauthorised charges: tell Newfound within 30 days of the charge, with the reason and the amount you consider correct, and at once if you suspect a purchase you did not make. Newfound investigates before refunding and may suspend an account linked to fraud.
8.8 Approved refunds go to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval; your bank may take up to 30 business days to show it.
9. Changes, suspension and termination
Maps.me may change packages, prices for future purchases, coverage and partner networks. Maps.me may suspend or end the service without refund where required by law, a regulator or law enforcement, at the direction of a partner network, for use in a restricted country or in breach of export-control law, or for breach of these Terms. Where a change withdraws something you have prepaid, clause 8.5 applies.
10. Liability
10.1 Maps.me is responsible for the service to the extent set out in these Terms and the Maps.me Terms of Service. Newfound is responsible only for the sale and delivery of the package you bought.
10.2 Neither Maps.me nor Newfound is liable for loss caused by lack of coverage, speed, device incompatibility, deletion of the profile, charges on another SIM or provider, or inability to contact emergency services. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for rights you have under mandatory local law.
11. Support
Installation, connectivity and coverage: support@maps.me (Maps.me). Orders, payment and refunds: support@newfoundhk.com (Newfound). Include your order number, device model and, for connectivity issues, screenshots of your mobile-data settings.
